A Bit About Kathryn Chiswell

Kath has practiced Yoga for over 30 years and has been teaching since 1999.

Her style has always been a gentle one, believing that it is more important to feel comfortable and centred in a Yoga posture than to push for a goal of flexibility.

Flexibility comes with time and practice and each student works at their own pace.

All classes are suitable for beginners and experienced students

Booking: please contact Kath on 01733 569951 for fees and details of availability, or with any queries.

What do the classes involve? Each class will include breathing exercises, gentle yoga postures, relaxation with a focus on improving and maintaining flexibility, strength, balance and a feeling of wellbeing. We will be working with chairs and/or on the floor. Alternative postures will be offered for you to choose the one appropriate for you. Please remember that you are the only one who knows how your body feels.

What to bring: If you have your own Yoga mat or a suitable body length rug or towel then please bring it along. I have some mats that will be available if you do not have one. You may also wish to bring a blanket for the relaxation at the end of the class.

What to wear: Wear comfortable loose clothing that does not restrict movement. Yoga is practiced barefoot as this helps you to feel more grounded and you become more aware of the subtlety of movement within the foot. If you are uncomfortable with this for any reason some people wear socks and take them off for the postures where their feet need to have a good grip, or they wear socks that grip.

Finding East Community Centre

The Centre is located on the part of Padholme Road that you reach from Eastfield Road (not the Homebase bit) and is positioned behind the Padholme Road houses.

  • Turn into Padholme Road from Eastfield Road,
  • Pass Charles Street on the right and travel past another 8 houses in Padholme Road on the same side
  • Turn right into the narrow access road to the Centre. A Peterborough City Council white sign for the Community Centre is located on the far side of the access.
N.B. The access road opens into a large car park. Please be careful when pulling out onto Padholme Road when leaving the Centre as visibility is not always good.
